Fambition: The Vuolearning Platform Enables Us to Create Motivating and Activating Online Courses

The right learning platform was found by mapping and trials

Fambition has been exploring the world of online training since early 2020 when Fambition's founder and employee experience consultant Laura Hannola created her first online courses after years of live training experience. In addition to creating training content, Hannola's work at Fambition consists of a variety of tasks, such as consulting and sales.

Since Fambition was new to the e-learning industry, they started the process by mapping the learning platform providers that were available and which ones would fulfil the needs they had for one. Vuolearning met Fambition's needs and wishes for a platform and seemed reliable, and the final decision to choose Vuolearning was based on the fact that during the meetings of the mapping process Hannola felt that Vuolearning does not only provide a platform but also wants to help their customers build effective online courses.

After executing their first online training Fambition decided to try training also on another platform. But after experimenting, they decided to return to using Vuolearning.

Several factors influenced the return. As an example, Vuolearning's ability to meet the security requirements of the company and its customers was seen as valuable: Vuolearning's servers are located in the EU, which is important to many of Fambition's customers. Vuolearning's excellent analytical tools also attracted Fambition to return. The platform easily provides comprehensive and visual analytics on participant responses and course performance, helping Fambition to deliver valuable data and employee insights to employer clients.

Trying another platform also showed Hannola the pace of Vuolearning's platform development. While Fambition was training its users on the second platform for a while, many of Vuolearning's tools had evolved and many of their previous wishes for the learning platform's functionalities had been fulfilled. For example, the features of the task tools have become much more flexible since they were used for the first time. Right now, Hannola can't really think of a feature that is missing from Vuolearning.

Online training is a learning process also for the trainer

The transition from live to online training has developed Hannola as a trainer in several ways. For some parts, the practices used in live training can also be utilized in online training, but even then starting to train online has been a learning experience for her and taught her many new things.

Hannola has profoundly understood that in addition to text and lecture videos, also other types of content and variety are needed to make the online courses work and motivate learners in the best possible way. She has also come to realize that some of the methods of activation and facilitation that she is used to using in her live training can also be used on the Vuolearning online platform.

For example, the reflections and discussions he uses in live coaching can easily be embedded in online courses, adding interest and interactivity to the training.

Hannola has received external help and sparring for developing their online training, and she really recommends seeking and using help from other people that are also getting started in the field of online training.

"There are so many features and possibilities on the platform, and you might not understand how to utilize them if you are not familiar with them!"

Receiving sparring help lowers the threshold for taking up e-learning as a new venture, and it also helps to ensure that the time and effort spent on practising is spent in an effective way. Vuolearning offers a variety of solutions from content creation consultations that suit clients at different stages of their online training journey.

In addition to sparring and training, Fambition has also benefited from getting feedback and mapping the needs of the course target group during the development of their online courses.

They have included feedback surveys in their previous courses to allow participants to give feedback on both the content and the execution of the course. And for their forthcoming course, Hannola has done interviews with the target group to ensure that the course meets their needs as well as possible. In this way, they have been able to take several things into account. For example, they have learned about the time limitations of the participants, and have then been able to design the course to be flexible so that it does not have to be completed in one sitting.

Taking up online training has been a learning process for Fambition and Hannola, and it has taught her many things. And the learning will continue to keep going as they continue training online and explore new, inspiring e-learning tools, and train new target groups.
